This page describes what information Sierra Collective collects when you use this site, why we collect it, and how you can ask us to delete it. Plain English — no dark patterns, no surveillance advertising.

What we collect

Account information

If you create an account, we store your email address, a display name you choose, and a salted hash of your password. We never store the password itself. If you sign in with Google or Apple, we store the subject identifier they return so we can recognize you next time.

Training and activity data

We store your progress through courses, video-watch state, assessment answers, messages you send to instructors, bookings, and any gear you add to your Gear Bag. This exists so the site can show you your own history — we don't resell it, don't build advertising profiles, and don't share it with third parties.

Instructor-submitted content

If you're a verified instructor, content you publish (articles, courses, assessments, videos) is stored so the platform can serve it. The name on your public profile is the display name you chose.

Form submissions

When you submit a booking inquiry or instructor application, we store what you wrote so we can follow up. This data is not shared with third parties.

Payment information

We do not store full credit-card numbers on our servers. When you pay for a course or booking, the card data goes directly to our payment processor (Stripe) and we only keep the tokenized reference and the last four digits of the card.

Analytics and trackers

We do not run third-party analytics, advertising pixels, or cross-site trackers today. If that ever changes, we'll update this page before the change takes effect.

Cookies

We set a small number of cookies:

We don't set advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

How long we keep it

Account data: for as long as your account is active. If you ask us to disable or delete your account, we keep only what's needed to prevent re-registration abuse and any records we're legally required to retain (for example, purchase receipts for tax purposes).

Form submissions: we keep them while they're useful for replying or following up. Old inquiries are anonymized or purged.

Your rights

You can ask us to show you the data we have about you, correct it, or delete it. Under California law (CCPA/CPRA) and similar laws in other jurisdictions, you also have the right to opt out of any "sale" or "sharing" of personal information — we don't sell or share, but you can formally opt out via the banner at the bottom of any page or the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal from your browser.

Deletion requests

Email [email protected] and ask us to delete your data. We'll confirm the request and get it done. You don't need an active account to submit a deletion request.

Questions? Use the in-platform messages system or the email address above. If any piece of this policy is out of date or unclear, tell us and we'll fix it.
